Xolo introduced its new Q2500 PocketPad phablet in India a few days ago and now the Indian OEM has listed another Android smartphone, the Q1010i, on its official website.

According to fonearena, the Xolo Q1010i will be available later this month for only Rs 13,499 ($225 / €165) outright. The smartphone will only go on sale in black color option, but Xolo may add more color schemes when the Q1010i is officially introduced in India.

Unlike the Q2500 PocketPad, which boasts a huge 6-inch display, the Q1010i comes with a 5-inch HD (720p) IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display that features Asahi scratch resistant glass.

A similar technology is used on Sony Mobile smartphones as well, so the Q1010i seems to offer quite interesting features for a mid-range handset.

Although the Xolo Q1010i is listed as shipping with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean operating system out of the box, the Indian OEM promises that the smartphone will receive an Android 4.4.2 KitKat upgrade soon after release.

It will be interesting to see whether Xolo keeps its word on the KitKat update, especially that this is not the first handset that will get released with an older version of Android and the promise of a future update.

Hardware-wise, Xolo Q1010i comes equipped with a decent 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6582 processor, which is complemented by a 500 MHz Mali 400MP2 graphics processing unit, 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal memory.

This seems to be an improvement from the standard Xolo Q1010 model, which features only 4GB of storage. Regardless, both Xolo mid-range smartphones offer microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB).

The “i” moniker in the name of the smartphone denotes a much better camera than Xolo usually adds to its smartphones. Xolo Q1010i packs an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera that features Sony Exmor R sensor with f/2.0 aperture, 1.4 micron pixel size and a 5-element lens.

The main camera also features autofocus, LED flash and full HD (1080p) video recording. There’s also a secondary 2-megapixel camera in the front for video calls and selfies.

Furthermore, Xolo Q1010i comes with dual-SIM (GSM / GSM) support and a high-capacity 2250 mAh battery, which has yet to be rated by the manufacturer.

Other highlights of the Q1010i include HSDPA (21Mbps) and HSUPA (5.76Mbps), along with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS with A-GPS support. FM Radio and USB on-the-go have been included as well. Stay tuned for more updates on the phone’s availability.
