They have quiet 120 mm fans as well, plus wattage of up to 730 Watts

Xilence is stretching the definition of “entry-level” with the new Performance A power supply series. The line is composed of four members, with outputs of 430W, 530W, 630W and 730W.

This is the first clue that the newcomers aren't normal entry-level PSUs. Entry-level (low-end) power supplies don't usually go above 500-600W, but this series reaches more than 700W.

More importantly, the energy efficiency is above average. No matter what the media makes it sound like, PSUs with 80 Plus Bronze rating or above are in the upper half of the spectrum, and the ones of 80 Plus Gold or above barely sell compared to the rest.

The Xilence Performance A models don't reach even 80 Plus Bronze, but they do have the minimum 80 Plus certification (just 80 Plus, no fancy metallic symbolism here). That means they have an efficiency of 82% at 20% load, 85% at 50%, and 82% at 100%.

Moving on, the Performance A PSUs boast over voltage, under voltage, over current, over temperature, overload and short circuit protections.

All in all, one could make a strong case for classifying the 430 Watts / 530 Watts / 630 Watts / 730 Watts Xilence Performance A PSUs as mid-range. Still, Xilence sells them as entry-level, for prices of €33.90 / $45.88, €37.90 / $51.29, €45.90 / $62.11 and €52.90 / $71.60, respectively.
