Chinese mobile phone maker XiaoMi is reportedly getting ready for the launch of an 8-core smartphone before the end of this year, the latest reports on the matter suggest.

Apparently, the company is getting ready to make said device official with a MediaTek MT6592 8-core processor packed inside.

Furthermore, a recent article on GSM Insider claims that other phone makers in the country are also getting ready for the launch of similar devices, including Lenovo, Oppo, Gionee, and Vivo.

Through the launch of its own such smartphone, XiaoMi will be able to better compete with rival companies on the Chinese market, that’s for sure.

No info on when the new device will be launched has been provided, but chances are that it will arrive in several months, after the XiaoMi Mi3 flagship smartphone is made official next month.
