Chinese mobile phone maker Xiaomi has been rumored recently to plan the launch of a successor for its highly popular Hongmi smartphone, and some more info on the matter is now available.

According to the latest reports on the matter, the company would plan on releasing no less than three versions of the device, with 8-core, 6-core and quad-core processors inside, respectively.

The phone is also said to arrive in April, one year following the launch of the original Hongmi, a recent article on GizChina reports.

Moreover, leaked info on the smartphone claims that it would be released with a 5.5-inch touchscreen display capable of delivering a 720p resolution.

Chances are that Xiaomi will go for MediaTek processors inside said device flavors, though an official confirmation on this has yet to be provided. Stay tuned for more on the matter.
