Xiaomi is hosting a big event today, and as anticipated, its latest flagship device is here to make us drool. It’s called the Mi Note and has been unleashed as the “most epic flagship device of the year.” It's obviously meant to compete with Apple’s iPhone 6 Plus beast.

The device comes with advanced specifications but still retains a competitive price tag (as seen at Android Central). Let’s see what these specs are.

Xiaomi's new flagship relies on the Snapdragon 801 platform

The Mi Note comes out with a 5.7-inch full HD display (1920 x 1080 pixel resolution and 387ppi) and a Snapdragon 801 processor clocked at 2.5GHz under the hood (yes, there’s no Snapdragon 810 here, which is reserved for the Pro version) working hand-in-hand with an Adreno 330 GPU and 3GB of RAM.

The Mi Note enjoys Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection on both sides.

The handset also offers a 3,000 mAh battery with QuickCharge 2.0 and Hi-Fi audio. That means the smartphone is capable of handling 24-bit/192 KHz lossless playback thanks to the embedded ESS ES9019K2MDAC.

On the rear part, the device dons a 13MP Sony camera with f/2.0 lens (probably the IMX214) with optical stabilization and a dual tone LED flash, while up front we have a 4MP UltraPixel camera.

Xiaomi has made a point of highlighting the fact that its latest flagship is definitely thinner than the iPhone 6 Plus, coming in at 6.95 mm / 0.27 inches compared to the latter's 7.1 mm / 0.28 inches.

The Chinese smartphone maker also highlights that the side bezels on the handset are extremely thin measuring just 0.008 inches / 0.2 mm. The handset is quite light, breaking the scales at 161 g / 5.68 oz, although we have seen other models on the market which are less heavy.

The Mi Note runs Xiaomi’s proprietary MIUI 6 ROM, which is built on the grounds of Android 5.0 Lollipop.

Xiaomi prices its latest flagship a little bit steeper

Last but not least come the pricing specifications which Xiaomi has tried maintaining relatively affordable. The 16GB model of the Mi Note will go on sale for approximately $371 /€314 while the 64GB model will be up for grabs for $451/ €382 in China.

The new flagship certainly sells for a pretty consistent price, a sign that Xiaomi is getting more and more secure in its position as top smartphone manufacturer in the region.
