Xiaomi might launch a tablet too, during the event

Xiaomi’s MiPad was the first tablet to arrive in the wild taking advantage of NVIDIA’s Tegra K1 processor, even before NVIDIA’s own Shield Tablet.

Even if the tablet isn't currently selling outside Chinese borders, the MiPad has grown quite popular with consumers. That’s because it bundles quite capable specifications and boasts a design that reminds a lot of people of Apple’s famous iPad.

Anyway, according to Gizmo China, Xiaomi is already working on a successor for their MiPad. However, this time we won’t be seeing an NVIDIA SoC onboard.

Apparently, the specs of the MiPad 2 will include a 7.9-inch display with 2048 x 1536 pixel resolution and an Intel Atom SoC clocked at 1.8GHz combined with 2GB of RAM.

The tablet is said to run Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box with MIUI OS running on top. However, the tablet will reportedly receive the Android 5.0 Lollipop update which is expected to arrive later in the year.

The report doesn't say when we should expect to see the MiPad 2 make a debut into the wild, but chances are the next-gen tablet will be launched at CES 2015 in Las Vegas, where Xiaomi might also introduce its Mi5 flagship smartphone.
