Today, Chinese mobile phone maker Xiaomi announced a new milestone, as its MIUI app store has managed to top 1 billion downloads in a bit over one year since its official debut.

The mobile application portal was launched 391 days ago, and has managed to attract over 17 million active users to date.

As The Next Web notes, the app store also reached 1.3 million daily searches, and around 5 million application downloads each and every day. At the moment, the MIUI App Store is ranked fifth among the 200 various similar portals available in China.

The Android-based MIUI firmware and devices powered by it have already managed to prove incredibly popular among users in China, with 70 percent of the Xiaomi smartphone users said to be downloading applications for their handsets through the company’s storefront.
