The tablet has been in the news before, but we still know nothing specific about it

Popular smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi has been suspected to be working on a tablet product of its own for some time now. Now a new mention of the tablet has been made online.

The device has been dubbed either MiPad or Mi3S and so far we haven't had many details about it. Last month a bunch of photos leaked in the media, showcasing a mystery metal chassis which was said to be meant for the upcoming tablets.

For a quick round-up of the information we have so far, the Xiaomi tablet was expected to arrive with a 7-inch display (possibly IGZO) and bundling a quad-core MediaTek MT8125 CPU clocked at 1.5GHz at its core.

On top of that, Xiaomi was said to be adding an impressive 13MP camera (capable of recording video in 1080p) to the whole bundle, but that’s where the stream of information was cut off.

Some of us were expecting to see the tablet make an appearance last week at MWC 2014 in Barcelona, but the slate failed to show up. Now, however, the trace of the tablet has been dug up again, and by the looks of it the Xiaomi device won’t be a 7-incher after all.

The folks over at Webtrek.it have stumbled upon a 9.2-inch tablet in the GFXbench database, which is believed to be the Xiaomi tablet we been hearing about in the last few months.

At the moment, we can’t be sure whether this is the real deal or not, but even if this turns out to be it, the info on the benchmarking site is showing a mid-range slate which is nothing too impressive (of course, there’s no trace of IGZO display).

Xiaomi will probably target the device at emerging markets and since the company has shown new interest in expanding its market grasp, it makes sense for them to be launching it in low-end sector.

So according to the listing in the benchmarking website, the slate will have a pretty huge 9.2-inch with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixel resolution and will draw power from a quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor clocked at 1.6GHz combined with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage.

Sadly, the 13MP camera scenario is blown to shatters, as the filing shows we’re going to be seeing an 8MP camera on the back and 1.5MP in the front.

Furthermore, the 9.2-inch Xiaomi tablet comes equipped with 3G, voice calling capabilities and the usual connectivity radio feat.

Like other Xiaomi devices, the tablet is expected to run on Android 4.3. However, take this information with a grain of salt, because there’s no clear indication why exactly we should be considering this to be Xiaomi tablet.
