One of the biggest problems that electronics makers stumble into, in China, are the very tight regulations for everything.
For whatever reason, the Xiaomi Set-Top Box was stonewalled for a long time there.
Now, though, local broadcaster iCNTV has picked up the device and hopes to start a trial run of it on March 19.
About 10,000 units will be shipped in Changsha, Hangzhou and Shanghai, for the price of $48 / 37 Euro instead of the original $64 / 49 Euro.
Xiaomi Box runs the Android operating system but can share media on iOS devices as well.
If the trial run turns out well, Xiaomi may become a permanent fixture of the Chinese entertainment market.
As seen in the picture above, the Xiaomi Box is very small, about as large as a smartphone really, but squarer.
