Xiaomi is still keeping its rumored tablet in the shadows

As expected ever since last week, today Xiaomi held a press event unveiling a few new products. We were hoping one of these devices might turn out to be Xiaomi’s mythical tablet that has been rumored for quite some time. Instead, we got only two routers and a TV box.

You might remember that a few days ago Xiaomi teased an image showing a device reminiscent of the Lenovo Yoga tablet, which came with a hinge-cum-handle. But apparently, this isn't the Xiaomi’s MiPad tablet, but the company’s newest router product.

The product is called the Mi Router Mini, but its specifications haven’t been disclosed yet, says TechinAsia. The form factor chosen by Xiaomi is pretty odd and you can’t blame us for seeing a Lenovo Yoga clone (or Apple’s Magic Trackpad for that matter).

The Mi Router Mini is pretty vivid and available in a variety of color options including white, black, orange, cyan, lime and pink.

Sticking with the Apple comparison, the similarities don’t end here. The fully-fledged Mi Router comes with an elongated cylindrical shape that might also summon some Apple-vibes. The wireless router supports dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11 ac and comes with 1TB embedded hard drive.

Last but not least, we have the Mi Box Enhanced Edition, which is Xioami’s second try at building a TV box. Thus, the new model now supports 4K Ultra HD videos of up to 3840 x 2160 pixel resolution, bundles a 4GHz quad-core processor fitted with 2GB of RAM.

The Xiaomi Mi Router will be available for purchase for the price of $112 / €81, while the smaller Mi Router Mini ships for a meager $21 / €51. The Mi Box Enhanced Edition can be yours for just $64 / €46.

Xiaomi also said it will be launching the products onto several new markets, including Malaysia, Philippines, India, Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam and then Russian, Turkey, Brazil and Mexico.

So there you have it, if you have been eagerly waiting for the fabled Xiaomi MiPad tablet, we’re sorry to disappoint you once again.

The most recent set of leaked photos showing the tablet, depict a device reminiscent of the iPad mini and not of the Lenovo Yoga, so who knows the slate might arrive at some point. The trouble is we have no idea when.

Anyway, judging by the prices of the new routers and TV box, these new products should sell like crazy. Nevertheless, it would be interesting to know the specifications of the Mi Router Mini, before making the purchase.
