Today, Chinese mobile phone maker Xiaomi has officially announced a new flavor of its Xiaomi Redmi Note smartphone, one that includes support for 4G LTE networks.

The original device has already managed to attract a lot of users on its side, courtesy not only of appealing hardware specifications, but also due to a low price tag, and the new handset variant seems poised to do the same.

The 4G LTE-enabled Xiaomi Redmi Note arrives on the market with the same 5.5-inch touchscreen display capable of delivering an HD (720 x 1280 pixels) resolution, the same as the original did, but sports a different processor inside.

While the Redmi Note was released with a 1.7GHz octa-core MediaTek MT6592 processor inside, paired with 1GB of RAM, the new model features a 1.6GHz quad-core Snapdragon 400 CPU, which has 2GB of RAM attached to it.

Courtesy of the MSM8928 SoC included in it (which also sports Adreno 305 graphics), the new mobile phone variant can provide users with the aforementioned support for 4G networks.

The specs list of the new mobile phone also includes 8GB of internal memory, along with a microSD memory card slot with support for up to 64GB of additional storage space.

Redmi Note 4G also arrives on shelves with single-SIM capabilities, unlike the previous model, which included dual-SIM functionality.

Moreover, the new handset sports a 13-megapixel back-illuminated camera on the rear, which should be able to record videos in full HD resolution, as well as a 5-megapixel front camera for snapping selfies and for making video calls while on the move.

The new device variant arrives on shelves with TDD-LTE 1900/2300/2600MHz bands support, as well as with the usual 3G, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth connectivity capabilities inside. Apparently, it is capable of offering data transfer speeds of up to 132Mbps over LTE.

At the same time, the phone is powered by a large 3100mAh battery and runs under Xiaomi’s MIUI platform, which is based on Google’s Android operating system.

The new Xiaomi Redmi Note 4G comes with a price tag of only 999 Yuan ($162 / €121), which will certainly make it a very popular smartphone in the country, fast.

As PhoneArena noets, the new device is priced almost the same as the original model, which can be bought in Malaysia at only around $158 (€118) at the moment.

Those of you interested in learning more on the new device flavor should head over to the mobile phone maker’s website for that.
