One of the most popular smartphones in Asia, the Xiaomi Redmi Note will soon get a sequel. How soon? That remains to be seen since the Chinese company has just launched a slight downgraded version of its popular Mi4 smartphone.

However, we still get rumors about the Redmi Note 2 from time to time, which are probably leaked by Xiaomi in order to keep the hype up.

Today, we have the first images of the unannounced Redmi Note 2 coming directly from China. Unlike the original Redmi Note that was stripped from any features that might increase its price, including good design material, its successor will look much better.

If these pictures are any indication, the Redmi Note 2 will feature a premium design with a full metal chassis, or at least metallic frames.

Unfortunately, the photos leaked aren't accompanied by any information about specs, though we know a little bit about Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 because this is not the first time the smartphone pops up online.

No microSD card in Redmi Note 2?

So, according to previous rumors, Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 might sport a large 5.5-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports HD (720p) resolution.

Furthermore, the phablet is said to be equipped with a octa-core Snapdragon 615 processor, 2GB of RAM and possibly 16GB of internal memory.

Unfortunately, the pictures don't show any microSD card slots, so we must assume the Redmi Note 2 won't pack one, though anything is possible.

Last but not least, the Redmi Note 2 is expected to feature a 13-megapixel camera on the back with autofocus, LED flash and full HD (1080p) video recording, as well as a secondary 5-megapixel camera in the front for video calls and selfies.

Since there's no word on when exactly the smartphone will be announced, we will keep an eye out for any info can could shed some light on the matter, so stay tuned.
