Xiaomi is prepping multiple smartphones for the early 2015

Albeit going through a rough patch international-sale wise, Chinese low-cost device maker Xiaomi is hard at work producing new smartphone models.

In recent days, we have seen the purported Mi5 leak online showing a wider display with almost non-existent bezels.

A 4.7-inch Xiaomi smartphone also popped up on line and the rumor mill has indicated this particular handset might turn out to be the Redmi 1S successor.

Xiaomi's next Redmi Note will be revealed soon

Well, it appears the company is also working on a sequel for its Redmi Note phablet and we got a bunch of photos showcasing its rear panel to prove it too.

On top of that, a set of specifications also leaked into the wild. It’s not the first time this happens though, but even so, the latest leak suggests the Redmi Note 2 will be pretty well-specced (as seen at Gizmo China).

The phablet will take advantage of a 5.5-inch display, as the original does. However, in the resolution department, the successor is going to be bumped up to 1920 x 1080 pixels.

The rumor mill is currently split between what power-source Xiaomi will go for – it could be either a 64-bit octa-core processor from Qualcomm (the Snapdragon 615) or a MediaTek one (the MT6752). The first choice would be really nice, provided Qualcomm manages to roll out the chip in time.

Everything onboard should be fitted with 2GB of RAM plus 16GB of internal storage. In the photography department, we’re hearing Xiaomi will add a front-facing 13MP camera and 5MP snapper up in front for selfie-taking.

Under the hood lies a 3000mAh battery, while the tablet will take advantage of Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box with MIUI 6 plastered on top.

Earlier leaks suggested the Redmi Note 2 will be more diverse

The new information contradicts what we knew earlier. For example, we had anticipated the Redmi Note 2 to take advantage of 3GB of RAM, a 20.7MP back snapper and an 8MP frontal camera. On top of that, we were told the device will arrive with multiple storage options including 16GB, 32GB, 64GB and 128GB.

But if we’re going to listen to what the latest rumors have to say, the handset won’t be taking advantage of all those alternatives.

Anyhow, we’re told we will see the Redmi Note 2 make a debut between January 21 and January 28. Don’t forget to check out the gallery below to see what the purported back of the upcoming phablet might look like.

Naturally, the images might be fake, so we should take them with a fair degree of skepticism.
