Today, Chinese mobile phone maker Xiaomi has made its Xiaomi Redmi 1S smartphone available for purchase in India once again, only to see it out of stock in about 4.5 seconds, according to Hugo Barra.

The handset was available exclusively via online retailer Flipkart, with around 40,000 put up for sale today, following another flash sale that took place on September 2.

Apparently, no less than 3,000,000 users registered for the device, though only a small portion of them actually managed to grab the device today.

The mobile phone can be seen on this page on Flipkart, with a price tag of Rs. 5,999 ($99/€77) attached to it. However, only users who register for it will be able to purchase it.

The next round of sales will take place on September 16, but Xiaomi hasn’t provided specific info on the number of devices that will be put up for grabs on that day. Registration will kick off at 6:00PM today.

What remains to be seen is when exactly the phone will ship to those who managed to purchase it. Those who placed orders for it on September 2 saw the shipping date being pushed back to September 16, and chances are that those who grabbed it today will see delays as well.

Redmi 1S – appealing specs at an affordable price

For those out of the loop, we should note that the Xiaomi Redmi 1S was made official with a 4.7-inch touchscreen display capable of delivering an HD (1280 x 720 pixels) resolution at a 312 ppi pixel density.

Moreover, the mobile phone hits shelves with a 1.6GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor and 1GB of RAM, which should provide users with appealing performance capabilities.

The handset also sports the Adreno 305 image processor, which enables users to enjoy 3D game environments and HD video playback.

The smartphone packs 8GB of internal memory, along with a microSD memory card slot capable of supporting up to 64GB of additional storage space.

On the back, it features an 8-megapixle camera with f/2.2 aperture, auto focus, LED flash, and full HD video recording capabilities. There’s also a 1.6MP front camera included in the package, with HD video capabilities.

Xiaomi Redmi 1S arrives on the market in India with support for 3G networks in the country, as well as with Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n and Bluetooth 4.0 capabilities. The handset is powered by a 2000mAh changeable Li-ion battery.

Xiaomi has loaded the mobile phone with the MIUI software, which is based on the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean operating system.
