The Xiaomi tablet has been expected to arrive for some time now

Xiaomi's elusive tablet has been in the rumor mill for a while now. Like in the case of the next-gen Nexus 10 tablet, I kept telling you that the device might launch on different occasions.

At some point, it was March 16, then it was April 8, but as we know, the tablet has failed to make an appearance. So I can’t help but wonder whether Xiaomi will release a tablet after all or not.

Now a new report coming out of Asia via ItHome fuels suspicions that the slate is indeed on its way, by providing us with a few more details about the tablet.

The publication claims that the MiPad tablet will arrive with a metallic design and will be launched on the market in May. Apparently, the information has been provided by “solid sources,” but as before, I recommend you take it with a grain of salt.

As a rumor round up, the tablet is expected to arrive with a 7.9-inch screen that will offer HD resolution and will draw power from a 1.5GHz quad-core processor manufactured by MediaTek.

The MiPad might run Android 4.3 or Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box and will feature the company’s own MIUI interface on top. Xiaomi has launched the MIUI skin for owners of the Nexus 7 tablet, so users can get a taste of what a Xiaomi slate might feel like.
