Currently, there’s no indication on whether the tablet will make it to the US

Xiaomi finally introduced its first tablet offering, the MiPad, last month in an effort to offer a budget-conscious alternative to the iPad mini with Retina Display.

The company said that the tablet would make it on the market later this year and now GizChina reports the company is gearing up to offer the slate in its home country, China.

The MiPad will go on sale in China starting July 1. Previously, Xiaomi had been offering the first 300 MiPad units for a special price of just 1 Yuan (or 16 cents) to VIP members of the Xiaomi forums.

Now, the company is making the tablet available to anybody in China with $240 / €184 to spend. The slate might as well be worth the effort, because it is one of the first to come equipped with an NVIDIA quad-core ARM Cortex-A15 processor with 192-core graphics.

The device is fitted with 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, 802.11 ac Wi-Fi, two cameras (8MP on the back and 5MP in front), Bluetooth 4.0 and a capable 6700 mAh battery.

Currently, information about whether Xiaomi plans to offer the slate outside of China is pretty sketchy. The device-maker has been said to start offering its smartphone in the US starting with 2015, but nothing has been said of its tablet. Hopefully, we're going to see it join the party, as well.
