14 DAY TRIAL // On January 15, Xiaomi is expected to host a press event during which we will see the face of the Mi5 (or Mi4s, the rumor mill can’t say exactly).
Ahead of the big happening, the handset’s super slim aluminum metal body has leaked into the wild, showing us what to look forward to.
Xiaomi's next flagship will be sleeker than the iPhone 6
According to French website Nowhere Else, Xiaomi’s upcoming flagship will boast a profile of just 5.1 mm / 0.2 inches. That’s a lot more airy than the iPhone 6 which currently boasts a 6.9 mm / 0.27 inches frame.
Despite its anorexic body, the Xiaomi Mi5 will still not be the world’s thinnest handset. That title goes to the Vivo X5 Max, which wows with a 4.75 mm / 0.18 inches body.
There’s also the Oppo R5 with only 4.98mm / 0.19 inches in thickness.
Anyway, going back to the Mi5, the phone will measure 140.89 mm / 5.5 inches in height and 71.4 mm / 2.8 inches in width.
Purported specs of the Xiaomi Mi5
The rumor mill doesn't seem to agree on the specs the Mi5 will bring to the table. We've been hearing reports that the device will don either a 5.2-inch or 5.7-inch display with QHD resolution (2560 x 1440 pixels) and pack a Snapdragon 810 or Snapdragon 805 on the inside.
Given the low prices Xiaomi is most notably known for, the company will probably resolve to use the Snapdragon 805 instead of the high-end Snapdragon 810.
In the photography department, the Mi5 should arrive with a 20MP or 16MP main camera plus an 8MP selfie camera on the back.
