Xiaomi Mi4i owners rejoice, as the Chinese company has just released the first software update for this very popular Android smartphone.

Although many Mi4i owners would have expected the update to bring some new features and major improvements, Xiaomi has decided to only include bug fixes and lots of optimization into it, a new report claims.

Mi4 owners unaware that their smartphone has just received its first update should look for software version MIUI v6.5.3.0.LXIMICD, which is about 806MB in size.

Xiaomi confirmed that the update is available for download OTA (over the air) in stages, so it might take a while until it reaches all Mi4i devices.

In case you haven't been notified on the update yet, you can check for it manually by going to Tools folder and opening up the updater application inside.

Moving on to the changes included in the update, we have already mentioned earlier that it only brings some bug fixes and optimization.

For example, developers have confirmed that they have fixed an issue in Contacts, which might cause UI error after importing a contact from SIM card and then operating in that contact detail page.

Let's hope the second update will add some new features too

Also, Xiaomi has crash bug that was triggered when changing system language. The Home screen has been optimized with some tweaking to one-hand mode. Also, an issue where some icons on the home screen were repeated has been fixed as well.

There's also one new option that Xiaomi Mi4i owners will be able to take advantage of, and that is the new Blacklist feature that allows users to customize blocklist notifications.

Lots of other fixes have been implemented as well, such as clock widget that sometimes disappeared from the home screen, and some inconsistency in weather information.

Last but not least, Xiaomi added icons superscripts, notifications ringtone / vibration, notification light options in notifications management page.
