The day has finally come for Android fans to try their luck in acquiring a brand new Xiaomi Mi3 smartphone via Flipkart. This is the third time Xiaomi puts the Mi3 on sale in India, and we expect the Chinese company to continue to offer the smartphone in the country in the coming weeks.

Xiaomi reports that it sold 20,000 Mi3 units in India during the two sales, but the Chinese OEM plans to bring more devices to customers in this country today.

According to the company, there will be 15,000 Xiaomi Mi3 units available for purchase via Flipkart. The sale will start at 2PM local hour and is likely to end in just a few seconds.

The last time Xiaomi Mi3 went on sale at Flipkart, it sold out in about 5 seconds and the Chinese company reported that no less than 10,000 units were bought almost instantaneously.

The first time the Mi3 was put on sale in India it took Flipkart around 40 minutes to get rid of the whole stock comprising 10,000 devices. However, it appears that things are getting better and better for Xiaomi, as the company sees high demand for its previous flagship smartphone.

According to Xiaomi, no less than 150,000 customers registered for the purchase of the Mi3, which means that a lot of people will be disappointed by the fact that they won’t be able to get one of the units put on sale at Flipkart.

In order to be able to grab a Xiaomi Mi3 at Flipkart for Rs 13,999 ($230 / €170) outright, you will have to be online before 2PM to make sure the retailer reserves your unit once the smartphone becomes available.

Also, keep in mind that only those who registered for the purchase of a Xiaomi Mi3 device will be able to grab one during the sale that’s been confirmed to start at 2PM.

If you haven’t done that yet, you won’t be able to obtain a unit, as registrations for the smartphone closed several hours ago. The Xiaomi Mi3 is available for purchase exclusively via Flipkart's website.

Here is a quick rundown of the features included in the high-end smartphone. First of all, the Mi3 comes equipped with a powerful 2.3GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, an Adreno 330 graphics processing unit, and 2GB of RAM.

It also sports a 5-inch IPS Retina display that supports full HD (1080p) resolution. On the back, Xiaomi Mi3 features an impressive 13-megapixel photo snapper with autofocus, dual-LED flash and full HD (1080p) video recording, while on the front there’s a secondary 2-megapixel camera.

Keep in mind that the smartphone packs 16GB of internal memory, but it lacks microSD card slot for storage expansion.

Update: All 15k units were gone in just 2 seconds according to Xiaomi's VP Hugo Barra. Sorry folks, but this is not surprising considering almost 150k customers registered their interest for the phone.
