As anticipated, today’s Xiaomi press event saw the advent of the company’s latest flagship, the Mi Note. But the Chinese smartphone maker also has a more advanced version for those who feel the need to have a monster device in their pocket.

The second smartphone unveiled today is called the Mi Note Pro and takes advantage of Qualcomm’s highly anticipated octa-core Snapdragon 810 platform, as reported by Ib Times.

This is a high-end chip which will probably make its way in all important flagships that are to be unveiled this year, including the Samsung Galaxy S6, Sony Xperia Z4, LG G 4 or HTC Hima (One M9).

Xiaomi ups things with the Mi Note Pro

Going back to the Mi Note Pro, the handset is offered with a 5.7-inch display (just like the Mi Note) with 2560 x 1440 pixel resolution and an impressive pixel density of 515 ppi. Just for comparison sake, the iPhone 6 Plus only boasts 401ppi.

The Mi Note Pro is actually the second smartphone taking advantage of the 64-bit Snapdragon 810 chip to be officially launched, after LG pulled the veil off the G Flex 2 at CES 2015 in Las Vegas a few days ago. Comparing it to the Mi Note which runs on the Snapdragon 801 platform, you should be able to see a significant boost in performance.

The handset is outfitted with 4GB of RAM, just like the ASUS ZenFone 2 we saw get unveiled at CES 2015.

Xiaomi is offering the Pro model with 64GB of internal storage (expandable via microSD card), but there’s no other version to choose from.

Moving on, the Mi Note Pro has a 13MP Sony camera with dual LED Flash and a 4MP frontal camera for selfie taking.

The handset relies on a capable 3,090 mAh battery with Quick charge 2.0. It runs MIUI which is based on Android 5.0 Lollipop and takes advantage of dual SIM with 4G LTE and 3G connectivity support.

Xiaomi hasn't said when we can hope to see the device arrive on the market, but we should expect it to cost around $532 / €451.
