Owners of Xiaomi M1 smartphones out there can now enjoy the benefits of the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean operating system, courtesy of CyanogenMod 10.1 ROMs specifically destined for their devices.

The popular custom software for Android devices has been released for Xiaomi M1, M1s, and M1 youth devices, and is now available for download for all those interested in installing it.

However, it should be noted right from the beginning that users will have to root their handsets in order to load CM10.1 on them, and that tethering doesn’t seem to work in the available ROM.

However, as GizChina notes, Xiaomi is unlikely to launch an official Android 4.2 update for these smartphones, and those who would like to taste the OS flavor will have to go this route for that.
