Gaming tablets are currently niche products

Customers have slowly started to lose interest in tablet computers and this trend is highlighted by declining sales. So in order to maintain their business afloat, tablet manufacturers have had to become increasingly specialized.

In recent times, we have seen the market spurt out tablets designed for media consumption, for the elderly or for the mobile professionals. A few tablets with a focus on gaming have also been announced, but they are far from becoming an usual occurrence.

The most famous is NVIDIA’s Shield Tablet which draws power from a mighty Tegra K1 processor. The producing company is also offering a dedicated gaming controller, plus a bunch of Tegra K1-optimized games to go with the bundle.

Back when NVIDIA launched its gaming-oriented slate, prophecies were made that, in the future, such tablets would be the downfall of gaming consoles, which seemed like wishful thinking at the moment.

Anyway, since the introduction of VR head systems, the mirage of VR gaming has become more and more present, although the technology is still in its infancy.

Check out this really gorgeous gaming tablet

While we wait for VR to become more mainstream, designer Beau Reid has come up with a concept of what might be considered the perfect gaming tablet. He has dubbed the product “Xgamer,” and as you can see in the gallery, the tablet has been envisioned with an ergonomic design and a special set of handles.

The tablet boasts a beautiful curved display in order to offer a “cinematic experience.” The specs talk about a 10-inch full HD device with 180 degree viewing angle and great sense of immersion.

The designer has chosen to make the shape of the chassis curved in order to ergonomically accommodate the hands of the user. The gaming controls are placed at the back, in order to be more easily accessed.

The speakers live on the curved front side, so the sound dissipates towards the user, not in the opposite direction. We’re not being told anything about the CPU running things on the inside, but we suspect it could be an octa-core NVIDIA Tegra X1.
