The SXSW Gaming Expo took place this weekend in Austin, Texas, and among its highlights was an interview with Microsoft Games Studio head Phil Spencer, led by the famous game industry journalist Geoff Keighley.

Although the interview wasn't livestreamed, a portion of it was uploaded to YouTube by user gerrenlaquint, offering some information regarding Phil Spencer's take of last summer and the company's expectations with Titanfall.

Spencer explains how last summer wasn't "a high point" for him, and how those events taught both him and Microsoft to be more direct with gamers and more active socially, stating that it's important and much better to deal with a controversial issue and speak openly about it than trying to sugar coat it and circumvent it.

In terms of going forward, Spencer says that Respawn Entertainment's Titanfall will be massive, with the game heralding a massive franchise in the making even before its launch.

He further mentions the huge anticipation for the game and that it doesn't happen so often to see franchises being built form the ground up, and that it's going to be a huge week, representing a good test for both the Xbox One platform and the back-end cloud infrastructure Microsoft set up and the game so heavily relies on.
