As it turns out, Microsoft has started updating the built-in Windows 8.1 apps in anticipation of the big launch scheduled to take place next week.

In addition to plenty of improvements, it might seem like Xbox Video is one of the apps that could undergo a major overhaul in Windows 8.1, but no specifics are available for the time being.

According to some forum postings on BetaArchive, users have found references pointing to a new Xbox Video design, most likely similar to the one we’ve seen in Xbox Music. As for the built-in features, expect a couple of new options too, but the update would probably be focused on the app’s appearance.

Windows 8.1 Preview will officially go live on June 26, while the stable build is scheduled to be unveiled later this year, probably in August or September.
