An issue with SRT files has been fixed as well

It’s been only been a few days since Microsoft updated the Video application for Windows 8.1 and now it looks like the Windows Phone version received the same treatment.

Obviously, the changes are different, though most of them are fixes and slight improvements meant to enhance user experience. Windows Phone users have probably gotten used with these Video updates, which are usually delivered twice per month.

The same goes for the other multimedia application developed by Microsoft, Xbox Music, which is also receiving updates on a two-week basis.

Since Microsoft launched Windows Phone 8.1, the Xbox Music and Video applications are a nightmare to use. Both have lots of performance issues and bugs that need to be addressed fast, which is why the company is delivering so many updates.

Still, some updates will be more important because they will address some nasty bugs or add new features, while others are not that major and only bring some polishing and general enhancements.

The latest update for Xbox Video for Windows Phone is a minor one, though it does correct a certain issue with SRT files. The rest of the changes seem to be minor, which is probably one of the reasons Xbox Video Team did not offer so many details.

However, we do know that Video app version 1.6.346.0 for Windows Phone 8 and 2.6.346.0 for Windows Phone 8.1 should fix an issue preventing SRT files in the root of an SD card from being discovered.

Apart from that, developers also confirmed the update contains some polish fixes and general improvements, which have yet to be detailed.

The last update for Video for Windows Phone dates back to September 26, so we can expect the next update for Xbox Video app for Windows Phone to arrive in about two weeks from now.

Sadly, we don’t have any hints on what it could contain, as the Xbox Video Team did not share any details on what they’re working on. Still, they do urge Windows Phone users willing to test the application to send their feedback.

You can now download Xbox Video for Windows Phone for free via Windows Phone Store. Keep in mind that the application is compatible with all devices powered by Windows Phone 8 and up.

Depending on what version of Windows Phone you run on your smartphone, you will be offered one of the two Video app versions mentioned earlier.
