Windows Phone fans will be pleased to know Microsoft continues to update and improve its Video and Music video applications for this mobile platform.

Since both applications were made available as separate apps within Windows Phone 8 operating system, Music and Video have been affected by lots of issues to the point that they were almost unusable at launch.

Luckily, Microsoft announced it would update both applications until they at least can be used on a daily basis by Windows Phone 8 and 8.1 users. In this regard, the Xbox Team is delivering new updates for these apps about twice per month.

According to the official changelog, this would be the tenth or so update the Video application for Windows Phone received since May.

Those who own a Windows Phone 8 handset should look for updated version 1.6.205.0, while users who managed to upgrade to Windows Phone 8.1 may want to check for Video app version 2.6.205.0.

Even though today’s changelog is pretty short when it comes to changes, they are extremely important and more than welcome.

One of the most important changes included in the update is the improvements of the application’s startup. Long time Video for Windows Phone users will notice that the application now starts faster, or at least it should according to the changelog.

Moreover, the playback for streaming is now faster thanks to the latest update. Developers also claim that the latest version brings more informative error messages for geofancing and download limits issues.

The update should also bring better search results. You can check out the full changelog, as published by the Xbox Team:

“- Faster app startup and faster playback for streaming, downloaded and personal video; - More informative error messages for geofencing and download limit issues; - Improved search results.”

Although these are all the changes included in this update, Windows Phone users will only have to wait about two weeks for the next update to hit Video app.

We expect more performance improvements, bug fixes and possibly new features, to be included in the upcoming update for Video app for Windows Phone handsets. Let us know in the comments section what’s your favorite improvement included in the newest update?

You can now download Video for Windows Phone for free via Windows Phone Store. The application should be fully compatible with all devices powered by Windows Phone 8 and up (including Windows Phone 8.1).
