Microsoft rolled out a new update for the built-in Windows 8 Video app, as Windows 8.1 is expected to bring a major overhaul to this particular Metro tool.

Since Windows 8.1 is just around the corner, the software maker introduced a new in-app search option that allows users to quickly look for specific videos.

The same feature has recently been implemented in Xbox Music too and is supposed to be the core of a future Xbox Video version offered to Windows 8.1 users.

Windows 8.1 is also set to bring improvements to many other built-in Metro apps, while also coming with a few new tools, including an alarm utility and Movie Moments.

More details, however, will be provided on June 26, as the update is set to make its debut at the BUILD developer conference in San Francisco.
