Amazon is trying to push sales of the Xbox One computer entertainment system in some European countries, by sporting some sizable discounts in Italy, France and Germany.

The company is selling the version of the console that comes with the Kinect sensor, which normally goes for €500 / $670, for €400 / $536 in Italy, €450 / $603 in France, and €440 / $590 in Germany.

This is definitely one of the heaviest discount sessions ever applied to the Xbox One console in Europe, and it comes right before Gamescom, a massive game industry event taking place in Cologne, Germany, from August 11 through August 15.

Last week, a similar listing on Amazon's Spanish website pointed to a reduction in price for the Kinect-less SKU of the Xbox One, leading many to speculate that Microsoft was planning to reduce the price of the unit after seeing the success of the cheaper, Kinect-less variant.

The Xbox One is falling behind the PlayStation 4 in terms of sales by quite a bit, and Microsoft might be planning to start a more aggressive marketing push in order to catch up, so for the time being, we don't know whether the price cuts for the Xbox One are just a temporary feature by Amazon, or a sign of something more.

In any case, Gamescom is kicking off on August 11, so we'll get to know whether the Redmond-based company intends to cut the price of the Xbox One soon enough.
