The development team at Microsoft working on the Xbox One home console is ready to offer more information on the Smart Match system, which will allow users to get a better matchmaking experience than on their current devices.

The team says that the new algorithms it is introducing on the Xbox One will be linked to player skill but will also take into account language, style of play and reputation, delivering results faster and with more optimization than on the 360.

The team states in an official Xbox Wire article that, “for the first time, games will be able to share player stats with Xbox Live and each other; to learn, evolve, and provide you with the best possible matchmaking available.”

The new structure of the Microsoft home console, which includes switching between applications at will, also makes it easier for gamers to wait for even the most obscure of titles or maps because they have the option of exploring other content while Smart Match does its job.

The team adds, “Once Xbox One is done finding your perfect match, it will prompt you with a simple toast—no matter where you are or what you’re doing—so you can jump straight into playing.”

Multiplayer has been a big draw on the Xbox 360, especially with titles like the Call of Duty series or the Halo franchise, and Microsoft wants to make sure that a superior experience is part of its next-gen device.

It will be interesting to see the exact impact that the new reputation feature will have on matchmaking and how it will affect the various fan communities, which have traditionally been a little unwelcoming to newcomers.

The Xbox One is currently set to launch at some point in November, the same month that the rival PlayStation 4 from Sony is expected to arrive.
