During the Game Developers Conference 2015 happening these days in San Francisco, Phil Spencer, who leads the Xbox-focused division at Microsoft, is ready to offer more information on the way gaming experiences will be shared between the Xbox One home console and the Windows 10 OS when the latter launches later in the year.

The executive is saying that the Xbox Live Software Development Kit, which is at the moment in the hands of a few partners, will soon be offered to a larger set of game developers, although no date is being offered for now.

Those who get the SDK will be able to access almost all Live services offered on the Xbox One, with full integration with the Windows Store.

Phil Spencer is quoted by the official Xbox Wire site as saying that "We are also committed to making Xbox Live accessible to all game developers, regardless of size, which is why we’re introducing a new tier of Xbox Live that is designed to allow any developer to engage with the Xbox Live community."

Microsoft is also stating that the universal app platform is real and will allow game makers to create titles which can be then offered on the PC, tablets, Xbox One consoles, phones and even the HoloLens.

The company is also aiming to use the ubiquity of Windows and the fact that the new version will be offered for free to make its official Store an important player when it comes to the delivery of content on the PC.

The open app environment for the Xbox One could happen

Microsoft is also claiming that a new Universal Development Center will allow teams, regardless of size, to submit titles and have them approved faster than before, while making sure that updates can be launched when the developer wants and that key performance metrics are also offered.

This might mean that a more open app environment, which was rumored at the start of the year, might be coming to the Xbox One when Windows 10 is launched.

Microsoft also believes that DirectX 12 will make PC gaming more interesting because it improves performance for titles across the board and says that all wireless gaming accessories for the Xbox One will be designed to work on the coming OS without any problems, with an official adapter coming later in the year.
