The development team at Microsoft in charge of the integration between the Xbox One and Windows 10 is announcing that a range of new features are being introduced to the official app for all those who are members of the Preview program.

The new version number is 5.5.20022.00000 or higher, and the update will be automatically delivered.

The official announcement on the Xbox Wire site explains that Avatars can now be downloaded by all users via a specialized app and can then be edited, dressed and customized in many ways.

The company is also making it easier to add and manage friends.

Microsoft states, "Click on a friend’s profile in your friends list and click on More > Change friendship to make them a favorite, or from anyone’s profile to add them as a friend. The friends list will now also show you which of your friends are in a party, playing multiplayer games, or broadcasting. You can also now report or block people from the Xbox app."

The Xbox One app for Windows 10 now also features game hubs and gamers are invited to test the streaming possibilities of the two platforms in order to help the company get the data needed to actually introduce the feature in the future.

Game DVR now supports customized keyboard shortcuts.

Xbox One is also getting new features

Those who own a Microsoft home console and are in the Preview program can now use the digital TV tuner in the following countries: Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Ireland, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Sweden, and Switzerland.

Other users will get the same functionality later in the summer.

The Wireless display app is also being improved based on the feedback delivered by Xbox One owners.

Microsoft is also suggesting that it is planning to make big announcements about improvements to the firmware of the home console during the E3 2015 event.

Rumors are saying that an open app development environment will be introduced for the Xbox One, with an SDK set to be launched for all interested developers before the end of June.

Microsoft is also poised to reveal a new 1 TB hard drive version of the device at E3 2015, which might be introduced as soon as June 23.
