An official description from the Dell website for the Xbox One suggests that the next-gen console from Microsoft is designed to run at least some applications that were initially meant to appear on the Windows 8 OS.

The text states, "Consider the game officially changed. With all your favourite Windows 8 apps able to be run on and synced to your Xbox One, now your phone, desktop, tablet and TV can all give you a unified web and entertainment experience."

Dell does not mention what apps are included in the Xbox One or how gamers will be able to synchronize their data if they use them.

Rumors about Windows 8 apps for the console appeared after the official announcement, when Microsoft said that one of the OS's included in the new device would be based on its main product.

The Xbox One will be out on November 22 in 13 core territories and in 2014 in the rest of the world.
