Microsoft changed the Xbox One used game limitations and the 24-hour online checks not because of feedback from fans but because of Sony's PlayStation 4 decisions, at least according to Cliff Bleszinski, the designer of franchises like Gears of War.

Sony earned a lot of positive publicity after E3 2013 last week when it confirmed that its PS4 would be nothing like Microsoft Xbox One, as it allows for used games to be played without restrictions and offline for as long as they want.

Microsoft has just implemented a massive shift in its policy, and now also supports used games without limitations or offline play on the Xbox One.

This shift was attributed to feedback from fans, according to Microsoft, but Cliff Bleszinski believes it was due to Sony's decisions.

According to the games designer, who posted several messages on Twitter, Sony forced Microsoft's hand and, in order to not lose the next-gen console war before it even started, the Xbox One maker decided to switch its core policies.
