Until then, users will have to deal with stereo sound

Albert Penello, one of the executives in charge of the Xbox One launch, says that the Xbox One will get access to Dolby Digital support for headsets only after launch and that gamers will have to deal with stereo output via the digital optical port until then.

He states in a NeoGAF thread that, “This was a SW scheduling issue pure and simple, and I know people are disappointed, but we will have it. Anyone with an HDMI receiver should be fine, as we pass the uncompressed 5.1 and 7.1 through HDMI as well as DTS.”

Some owners of high value competitive headsets will be disappointed, especially given that the Microsoft representative has not offered a date for the launch of the update that will add Dolby Digital support.

The Xbox One will be out tomorrow, November 22, on 13 main markets, for the price of 499 dollars or Euro.
