Microsoft has been long rumored to plan the launch of its own series of smartphones, and it seems that we’re nearing fast to the day when it will do so, especially now that it received green light from Nokia’s shareholders for the purchase of this company’s handsets division.

However, the Redmond-based software giant is still months away from making any details on its first Windows Phone 8 smartphone official, since the deal with Nokia won’t be closing until early 2014.

In the meantime, however, enthusiasts are left wondering of what Microsoft’s first smartphone could look like, whether it will be similar to Nokia’s current series of Lumia devices, or will employ a completely new outer design.

Given Microsoft’s latest focus on bringing together the mobile, desktop and gaming console worlds and with the recent launch of the Xbox One console, some considered it fit to create their own concept of a future Microsoft smartphone, despite the fact that it might never arrive on shelves.

The concept phone, called Xbox One Smartphone, can be admired in the video embedded below, and comes as the result of an association between T3, Tech Radar & Gizmodo.

Inspired by the new console, the phone sports a two-tone matte-gloss liquid black finish, impulse triggers on the rear for haptic feedback, and a 6-inch full HD screen to offer great video and gaming capabilities.

The concept smartphone also features an octa-core Snapdragon processor inside, 4GB of RAM, and 128GB of internal memory. Furthermore, it sports a microSD memory card slot with support for 64GB memory cards.

On the back, the device would feature a 25-megapixel camera, paired with a 15MP Kinect camera on the front, to enhance its overall gaming capabilities. It would come with dual-boot capabilities, pairing Windows Phone 8 with the Xbox One dashboard.

The Xbox One Smartphone concept device is accompanied by a touch cover that offers various options when it comes to gaming. It will also pack support for the Xbox One controllers.

To some, this might seem like a far-fetched concept, yet the latest advancements in the mobile industry make it sound more realistic than you’d think. Nevertheless, this remains only a concept device for the time being, albeit a highly appealing one.
