Microsoft has confirmed some new sales results for its Xbox One next-gen console, revealing that over 2 million units have sold in the last 18 days.

The Xbox One launched in 13 countries around the world back on November 22 and quickly sold out in most retailer and online stores.

After confirming that the new device had sold over 1 million units in just 24 hours, Microsoft has now revealed that over 2 million units have now been acquired by fans from around the world.

"Since its launch 18 days ago, Xbox One is proving to be the must-have gift this holiday season with more than 2 million consoles sold through to consumers worldwide, averaging over 111,111 units sold per day – a record-setting pace for Xbox," the company said on the Xbox Wire.

According to Microsoft, these millions of fans have already spent over 83 million combined hours playing games, watching TV, or using apps on the Xbox One.

"We continue to be humbled and overwhelmed by the positive response from our fans. We are thrilled to see sales of Xbox One on a record-setting pace, with over 2 million Xbox One consoles in homes around the world. Demand is exceeding supply in our 13 launch markets and Xbox One is sold out at most retailers," Microsoft's Yusuf Mehdi said.

"We’re also particularly excited to see consumers engaging in a wide range of games and entertainment experiences on the platform, with more than 1 million paid transactions on Xbox Live to date."

In terms of actual gaming, Microsoft has revealed that Xbox One owners have earned over 39 million achievements, totaling around 595 million Gamerscore points.

The company also expects the great sales to continue, as every new wave of devices reaching stores worldwide is being sold immediately to customers who have yet to score a next-gen console.
