The sales of the Xbox One home console from Microsoft during its United Kingdom launch week are double those posted by its 360 predecessor during the same period of its history.

CVG cites figures from Chart-Trak that show that the new device has accounted for 80 percent of all the home hardware sold on the market for the seven-day period that ended on November 23.

The performance is impressive given that the Xbox One has only been on offer starting at midnight on November 22.

Microsoft has said that on the 13 markets on which it is available, the new home console has managed to deliver 1 million units to fans.

The rest of the world will get access to the device at some point in early 2014.

The rival PlayStation 4 from Sony is also at the moment offered in the United States and will become available in Europe on November 29.
