By upgrading the cloud, the console's performance will improve, apparently

Microsoft is confident that through upgrades to its cloud technology, the actual performance of the upcoming Xbox One can be improved, thereby guaranteeing an even longer lifecycle than the current Xbox 360.

Microsoft is getting ready to debut the Xbox One next month and it has already mentioned how it hopes that the device will have a longer lifecycle than the current Xbox 360, which came out in 2005 and is still going strong in terms of sales around the world.

According to Microsoft's Phil Harrison, who talked with MCV, the lifecycle of the Xbox One will surely reach the 10-year mark, largely because of the current way consoles are being sold all around the world.

"Well Xbox 360 has been getting close to that. When we think about an entire life of a generation, it is going to be measured in decades because of the way these devices are going to be sold around the world. We have seen that already with other consoles."

One of the key factors that will ensure the long life of the Xbox One is the cloud technology that will be continuously upgraded in the future. Harrison is so confident in the system that he believes upgrades in terms of performance for the console are going to be seen.

"The way in which you keep the market fresh is keep the technology fresh and keep the development ecosystem growing so that new and exciting experiences are coming out. And with Xbox One using the power of cloud we can add features, we can add functionality, we can have performance increases over time. I think that will keep the platform very fresh over a long period of time."

Consoles have often been criticized due to the fact their hardware can't be upgraded after launch, as that will cause a split in the user base so Microsoft might be able to circumvent it via its cloud system.
