The development team at Microsoft in charge of the Xbox One home console might be working on a new complex application for the device, which is designed to allow users to read news, complex magazines, books and even comics.

The information comes from sources that tell The Verge that the new project is designed to make the platform more attractive for those who are looking to consume media other than video or games on it.

A software development engineer position open inside the company says that, “you will be on the team building a groundbreaking interactive reading app on Windows, which incorporates books, magazines, and comics.”

The reading app might also be linked to the big investment that Microsoft has made in Barnes & Noble.

Since the next generation of home consoles was first announced, both Sony and Microsoft have talked about the entertainment capabilities of the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4, but the companies have failed to offer the promised support.
