An anonymous Xbox One developer has shared his thoughts about the new console online and highlighted just how important the new and improved Kinect sensor is to the whole experience and how the Snap feature will delight users.

The Xbox One has been losing its next-gen console war with Sony's PlayStation 4, as the Japanese device not only has better policies concerning used games, but it's also more powerful than Microsoft's creation.

In order to improve the image of the console, an anonymous developer who is working for Microsoft on Xbox One applications has talked on Reddit about the device, after his identity was confirmed by the moderators.

The dev highlighted just how important the new and improved Kinect is for the Xbox One experience and how it costs almost as much as the actual console in terms of manufacturing costs.

"The majority of the masses care only about the console, except that the success of the Kinect carries much more weight to us. The sensor costs almost as much as the console to make."

By shipping a Kinect with every console, developers have no reason to skip implementing support for the sensor in their games.

"The goal with having a Kinect ship with every Xbox is to guarantee to game developers if they implement Kinect features into their games, everyone who has an Xbox will be able to experience it," he said.

"I often see people dismiss the Kinect instantly because they haven’t seen it work like I have. It is an integral part of the Xbox One experience. The number of features on the Xbox One that uses the Kinect is almost too many to count. I can’t imagine using the console without it."

What's more, the Snap feature, which allows certain applications to be pinned onto the side of the screen while a game is being played in the main part of it, will amaze users, according to the developer.

"Snapping is only available to certain apps such as IE, Skype, the game DVR upload tool, etc. Game titles cannot be snapped. AAA titles cannot be snapped (shown in smaller view). IE can however be snapped to look up how to perform a combination while you play."

Microsoft is expected to share more details about the Xbox One's features in the future, ahead of its November launch.
