The powerful console, the new Kinect, and other advantages bring value

Microsoft believes that the Xbox One offers a great value at 499 USD/EUR, as the next-gen console not only brings a powerful device and a great sensor in the form of the Kinect, but also various advantages in terms of games.

Sony defeated Microsoft at this week's E3 2013 conference by not only allowing used games on the PS4, but also by offering the PS4 for just $399/€399, considerably cheaper than the Xbox One, which is $499/€499.

According to Microsoft's Phil Harrison, the Xbox One will more than justify the extra investment.

"It's a unique architecture, with Kinect and the power of the cloud. What we showed yesterday was the most incredible games lineup in any first few months of a platform launch, many of which are exclusive and all of which have advantages being on Xbox One. That's what's really going to drive value. We couldn't be happier with the price we're starting at," he told The Telegraph.

Despite Harrison's assurances, the price gap is quite big and this suits Sony rather well, according to the Japanese company.
