A major firmware will bring forth the achievements update

The Xbox One will get an overhauled achievement system in the near future, as Microsoft has confirmed at the E3 2014 pre-show that a special system software update is going to launch at some point in time to help achievement hunters in their pursuit.

The Xbox One, like the Xbox 360, features achievements that award GamerScore points for completing certain challenges.

Unfortunately, the new console hasn't made examining achievements that easy, as you had to pause the game, use the multi-tasking system, and then access the dedicated achievement app to examine your challenges.

The upcoming system software update, which was just confirmed by Xbox Live community manager Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb, will enable Xbox One owners to snap the achievements to the side of the game.

As such, they'll be able to easily see what achievements they've completed, which are close to completion, and how the cumulative ones are going.

This should make the lives of achievement hunters much easier, as they'll no longer have to constantly alternate between the game and the dedicated app.

Unfortunately, no exact release date was given for this major feature or to the Xbox One system software update that will include it. Expect to hear more, as the actual Microsoft E3 2014 press conference begins soon.
