The team working on the Xbox One home console at Microsoft confirms that it has improved the graphics processing unit of the new console since the device was first shown to the public.

Marc Whitten, one of the leading members of the team, tells Major Nelson in a podcast that, “we’ve tweaked up the clock speed on our GPU, from 800 MHz to 853 MHz. Just an example of how you really start landing the program as you get closer to launch.”

The developer suggests that other areas of the device have also received improvements.

The driver associated with the GPU has also been improved and makes it easier for developers to work with the Xbox One.

Microsoft will continue to try to improve its console until it begins shipping units at launch, which will take place in November.
