The recently released Xbox One firmware update that just went live today, February 15, around the world, seemingly removes the sharpening filter that's applied to games that don't run in 1080p and are upscaled to that full HD resolution, according to new reports online.

Microsoft pushed hard to get its latest Xbox One system software update online before the Titanfall beta stage on its console and it finally managed to release it earlier today.

While it didn't say just what sort of improvements are included in the new update, a few eagle-eyed gamers via NeoGAF have concluded that the sharpening filter that was applied to upscaled games is now gone.

More specifically, for games that didn't run natively at a 1080p resolution, and were upscaled to that full HD experience, a strong sharpening filter was applied that caused aliasing and jagged edges.

These things are gone now, according to Xbox One owners.

As of yet, however, Microsoft didn't confirm this fact.
