Larry Hryb, aka Major Nelson, announces that the firmware update that Microsoft was planning to launch for the Xbox One home console on February 11 is no longer arriving today, but that it will be offered to all users before the end of the week.

The community manager says that the team in charge of the update is still putting the finishing touches on it.

Previous information from the company explains that the firmware is designed to offer control over local storage and it will also introduce a battery indicator for the connected controllers.

Microsoft has not said how big the Xbox One download will be.

A second firmware update for the home console will be offered in early March, before the launch of Titanfall from developer Respawn Entertainment and Electronic Arts.

The company says that it will fix the party system and the way multiplayer matchmaking works in order to improve the multiplayer experience for the shooter.
