It's unclear how many games are currently affected

The team in charge of the Xbox One home console announces that, at the moment, a number of services for the device are affected by problems, including the ability to launch games, to access content, and to get content from the store.

The problems were initially reported by a range of users, and since then, some are also saying that a number of apps are no longer responding and that some games are starting while other remain unresponsive.

The official status page says, "Are you having a tough time browsing for content, making purchases, or launching titles you’ve already purchased? We’re working to get this sorted out as soon as we possibly can! Thanks for staying patient, Xbox members. Check back in a half hour for an update."

On Twitter, the support team has explained that it has identified the cause of the problem and that it plans to deliver a fix as quickly as possible.

The issue seems to be linked to the servers that Microsoft uses to deliver and activate content on the Xbox One, and that probably means that no download will be required for the customer in order to get full functionality back.

All Xbox One issues need to be solved as quickly as possible

Microsoft needs to move as fast as possible to restore full access to all the content offered on the Xbox One because the company is at the moment trying to catch up to the PlayStation 4 from Sony when it comes to sales and it's impossible to do so if the trust of the potential buyers is affected by such problems.

With Black Friday rapidly approaching, the company is allowing gamers to get its platform for a low price in the United States, with Assassin's Creed Unity and another free game included in order to increase value.

There are also price cuts for modern titles and a range of reductions linked to the Xbox 360.

The Xbox One has gone past the 10 million units shipped to stores milestone and Microsoft says that its temporary price drop to 349 dollars (245 Euro) in the United States is working and has led to a solid increase in overall sales.

Sony has not yet responded with a price cut of its own, but the company might introduce more bundles in the run up to Christmas in order to make sure that it secures its number one position.

UPDATE: The official status page says that all content should now be accessible and all app functionality is back to normal.
