The next-gen console is skipping certain countries not because there aren't enough units

Microsoft has elaborated on the reasoning behind the delay of the Xbox One next-gen console in certain European countries, claiming that it's mainly due to the localization issues encountered by the company, not because there aren't enough consoles to be distributed in all of the initial 22 countries.

Microsoft surprised a lot of people when it confirmed that the Xbox One would no longer be released in all of the initial set of countries, as it would appear in 2014 in Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Netherlands, Norway, Russia, Sweden and Switzerland.

According to Microsoft's Senior Director of Product Planning, Albert Penello, the delay is a consequence of the localization issues encountered by the company, not because it doesn't have enough consoles to go around.

"Launch volumes are not really an issue," he said on NeoGAF.

"This was simply a software issue in terms of getting local language and voice support in the dash. It's pretty straightforward, but disappointing I know for people who are missing launch."

Xbox One manufacturing issues have been rumored for quite some time so it's still possible that Microsoft doesn’t have enough consoles to assure decent stocks in its main countries.
