Microsoft and the NPD Group confirm that the Xbox One has broken the winning streak of the PS4 this holiday season, managing to sell way more units than Sony's console during the month of November in the US.

The Xbox One and PS4 launched last November, and since then, the two devices have been embroiled in a pretty bitter console war that, according to official figures, was won by Sony's platform every month in the US.

The Xbox One won November in terms of sales

Now, it seems that thanks to the pretty impressive bundles and price cuts offered by Microsoft, the Xbox One has managed to break that winning streak, as the NPD and the large corporation confirm that they've sold more units in the US and the UK during the month of November than the PS4 or the Wii U.

"We are committed to making Xbox the best place to play, with this year’s best games, the best community of gamers to play with, and terrific value. And we are amazed by the excitement Xbox fans have shown to start off this holiday. November set a new record for sales of Xbox One, and Xbox One was the best-selling console in the US and UK," the company says, via DualShockers.

The console also led in terms of game sales

Microsoft and NPD also confirm that owners of the new Xbox One units bought a lot of different games to go with their new consoles, leading to a surge in game sales on that platform, as opposed to the PS4 or Wii U.

The new fans also spent a lot of time online with the new devices, setting a new record of activity on the Xbox Live online service this November.

"Response to the holiday lineup of games on Xbox One was incredible, with Xbox One fans buying more games in November in the U.S. than any other gen eight platform and enjoying over 357 million hours of gameplay globally.  In fact, more fans logged into Xbox Live across Xbox One and Xbox 360, and enjoyed more entertainment, than any other month in the history of Xbox. We love to see the excitement from our fans and are grateful for their passion, support and contributions to the Xbox community," Microsoft adds.

Considering that the low-priced bundles are set to continue until January, it's quite possible that December might also see a dominating Xbox One in front of the PS4 or Wii U. As of yet, Sony's efforts to counter Microsoft's offers haven't been that impressive.
