Microsoft has previously announced that it wants to launch the Xbox One in Japan in 2014 and it seems that the company has now decided on a date and the next-gen device is set to be launched on the third major video games market in the world on September 4.

The information comes from a Famitsu article that was translated by Gematsu and suggests that an official announcement that will also include the price of the new platform is expected to arrive soon.

The Xbox One is also due to be offered on another 26 secondary markets on September, although it is not clear whether the same date will be used as in Japan.

Video games that will be offered on launch for the next-gen console include: Forza Motorsport 5, Kinect Sports Rivals, Sunset Overdrive, Xbox One Halo, Dead Rising 3, Ryse: Son of Rome, Call of Duty: Ghosts, Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition, Thief and Murdered: Soul Suspect.

Once again, Microsoft is expected to offer the official pricing and more details in the coming weeks.

Famitsu also has a list of all the companies that are working on creating more content for the Xbox One: 2K Games, Access Games, Acquire, Arc System Works, Artdink, Atlus, Bandai Namco Games, Bethesda Softworks, BusinessPartner, Capcom, Cave, Codemasters, Cute, CyberConnect2, CyberStep , D3 Publisher, Electronic Arts, Experience, From Software, G.rev, Genki, Grounding, GungHo Online, Entertainment, Hamster, Integrow, Kadokawa Games, Klon, Konami, Land Ho, Level-5, Mages, Marvelous AQL, Moss, Nippon Ichi Software, SEGA, Silicion Studio, SNK Playmore, Spike Chunsoft, Square Enix, Take-Two Interactive, Tango Gameworks, Tecmo Koei, Triangle Service, Ubisoft, Warner Entertainment Japan, Yuke’s, Zoo.

Microsoft has also promised that it will be delivering special content alongside the Xbox One in Japan in order to make the next-gen console more attractive to potential buyers.

The September 4 launch date means that the PlayStation 4 from Sony will have a major lead in the country, after being first offered on February 22.

Worldwide, the Sony home console has managed to get 7 million units to players, while the Xbox One is behind, at just over 5 million.

Both companies are aiming to keep the current pace of sales high with exclusive game releases and by delivering more indie titles to maintain a steady stream of launches.

Analysts have suggested that an Xbox One that lacks Kinect might be introduced for a lower price before the end of the year, but Microsoft has denied the rumors.
