Microsoft has once again implemented a series of tweaks into the preview version of the Xbox One April firmware update, eliminating some of the major issues spotted by closed beta testers regarding the Blu-ray drive.

The Xbox One is set to receive a major firmware update later this month and, for the last few weeks, Microsoft has been testing it out via a preview program that acts as a sort of closed beta.

While the system software looked quite good initially, according to testers, it has since experienced some major problems with the Blu-ray drive of the console.

Now, according to a fresh post on Reddit from one of the preview participants, a major set of tweaks has been made to the beta firmware.

First up, the Blu-ray software issues that can result in the error message "Do you own this game or app? (0x87de07d1)" have been resolved, meaning Xbox One owners will be able to play the games they actually own from now on.

Another solution to a Blu-ray problem, this time relating to the refusal of the slot to accept a disc after the console has been idle for a while, is also included in the new update.

The Blu-ray drive will now properly eject non Blu-ray discs, like DVDs, once it's received the eject command. In some cases, according to Microsoft, the drive ejected the disc then quickly pulled it back in, requiring a second eject.

Another major problem, relating to getting the console out of standby mode, has also been fixed. Apparently, when players attempted to wake the Xbox One, it would become unresponsive and needed a hard restart.

There are still some known issues with the current preview firmware for Xbox One, but Microsoft confirms that it's developing fixes for all of them. Check out a few of the most important below.

Known Issues - In this version of the 1404 update, the startup process of a console doing a cold boot up (systems that are configured for power saving mode, versus instant on) will encounter a delay of approximately 30 seconds, during which a solid black screen is displayed. This issue is not present for consoles powering up from a standby state. A fix for this issue is currently being tested. - During silent update installation some devices controlled by the Xbox One via IR (TVs, receivers) may power on in the middle of the update process and not power back down. The developers are investigating this issue. - Some preview participants have encountered issues where GameDVR clips are periodically being recorded without audio. A fix for this issue is currently being tested.

Expect to hear more about the new Xbox One system software update soon.
